Ideal for constrained on-set spaces, the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K G2 combines a popular MFT lens mount, a low-light 4K image sensor, and cinematic color science. Despite its compact size, it incorporates the features of a full-sized studio camera. With 12G-SDI supporting HD and Ultra HD operation up to 2160p60, users can control the built-in color corrector and lens through SDI and HDMI connections. The camera goes beyond broadcast quality with log gamma, enabling users to create cinematic color-corrected looks directly in-camera.

The unique Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera provides the advantages of a sizable studio camera within a compact, durable body, making it versatile for placement in virtually any location on set. With a sturdy magnesium alloy core, the body’s size is nearly identical to that of the lens mount. The camera is compatible with cost-effective, high-performance MFT lenses and can easily adapt to broadcast lenses through the use of adapters. Conveniently, buttons on the front of the camera ensure swift access to settings and recording triggers.

The remarkable 4K sensor, combined with Blackmagic generation 5 color science, provides customers with imaging technology comparable to digital film cameras. The color corrector can be controlled from the switcher, and with 13 stops of dynamic range, the camera delivers darker blacks and brighter whites, ideal for precise color correction. The sensor’s resolution of 4096 x 2160 caters to both HD and Ultra HD work, supporting frame rates from 23.98 fps up to 60 fps.

Featuring the popular MFT lens mount, the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera is compatible with a wide range of affordable photographic lenses from Olympus, Panasonic, Sigma, and more. This compatibility proves advantageous for adjusting cameras mounted in hard-to-reach areas without physical access.

The connectivity options of Blackmagic Micro Studio Cameras are diverse, supporting various workflows. HDMI facilitates video, tally, control, and record trigger through a single cable for a broadcast-style workflow. With 12G-SDI, users can connect to SDI-based switchers such as the ATEM Constellation, providing camera video, program return, tally, talkback, and remote camera control.

The high-speed USB-C expansion port on the Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K allows users to record to external disks, control the camera via a network, or connect a range of accessories. The camera can record high-quality 12-bit Blackmagic RAW files directly to an external USB disk, eliminating the need for time-consuming file transfers. Adding a USB-C to Ethernet adapter enables easy control of the camera over a network through user-friendly REST APIs.

The Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera offers diverse power options, including a common 12V DC locking power connector to prevent accidental cable disconnection. Supporting standard LP-E6 compatible batteries, users can add a battery for local power backup during critical live broadcasts. These batteries, available globally, remain trickle charged by the camera. Alternatively, users can employ an adapter to connect the camera to V-Lock batteries for extended, all-day power.
