It also serves as a backup for the primary Ethernet connection. Phone tethering works with the latest high-speed 5G phones and the more common 4G phones. The ATEM Mini switcher will automatically detect when a phone is connected and switch its internet connection to use it, eliminating the need for manual settings adjustments. The phone draws power from the USB port, ensuring it remains charged. Using phone tethering and mobile data, ATEM Mini switchers are the perfect mobile production solution.

Record Directly to USB Flash Disks:

Blackmagic ATEM Mini Pro ISO supports direct recording of your streaming data to USB flash disks, allowing for extended recording times in the same H.264 video files with AAC audio that you streamed. This enables quick uploads to any online video site, such as YouTube or Vimeo. Recording to multiple disks is also supported via a USB hub or Blackmagic MultiDock, allowing for uninterrupted recording as one disk fills and another takes over. Recording settings and disk selection are configured in ATEM Software Control, and there’s a record status view in the built-in multiview. You can even remotely trigger recording on connected Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras.

Edit Live Production with Separate ISO Recordings:

The ATEM Mini Pro ISO and Extreme ISO models allow you to edit your live event by recording multiple video streams, including clean feeds of all inputs and programs simultaneously. Media pool images are saved with the video files, which include metadata tags such as synced timecode and camera numbers. Imagine re-editing your show with new color grades, effects, and graphics! All audio sources are recorded as well, enabling professional audio remixing.

Edit Live Production in DaVinci Resolve

The ISO models also save a DaVinci Resolve project file, allowing you to open your live production as a video edit with a single click. All cuts, dissolves, and media pool graphics will be loaded. This enables fine-tuning of edit points or complete replacement of shots. The DaVinci Resolve Sync Bin lets you select new shots via a multiview, making it very user-friendly. You can also relink to Blackmagic RAW camera files for professional color correction and Ultra HD finishing.

Add Exciting Video Effects:

One of the key benefits of ATEM Mini Pro ISO is the professional production values possible through its range of built-in video effects. The cut button ensures an instant cut when switching between sources, while the auto button, a term used in large broadcast switchers, enables video effect transitions. Duration buttons allow for 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2-second settings for video effects. You can choose from mix effects, which smoothly transition between sources, or dip effects, which fade via a color. Fun DVE effects can move the image off-screen during transitions, adding excitement to your programming.

Work with Professional Microphones:

With two independent 3.5mm stereo audio inputs, you can connect desktop and lapel microphones. A music player can also be connected to play introduction music before the live stream starts. With these extra stereo audio inputs, you can ensure both a host and guest have lapel microphones during interviews. All audio inputs to ATEM Mini Pro ISO feature panel buttons for adjusting audio levels and enabling inputs into the audio mixer. All models include a Fairlight audio mixer, with all HDMI inputs and both microphone inputs connected, allowing for live mixing from all audio sources. The ATEM Mini Extreme adds a headphone output.

Automatically Convert Any HDMI Input Format:

Each HDMI input features its own dedicated standards converter, meaning ATEM Mini Pro ISO will automatically convert 1080p, 1080i, and 720p sources to the switcher video standard. By default, the switcher sets its video format automatically, though you can set it to any video standard. The HDMI outputs are true “aux” outputs, allowing clean switching of each HDMI input to the output. You can even “direct” switch input 1 to the HDMI output for low-latency eSport productions. The ATEM Mini Extreme models support 2 low latency direct loops, and the HDMI output can display a full multiview showing all inputs, programs, previews, and streaming status on a single monitor.

Professional Broadcast Transitions:

ATEM Mini includes a wide array of broadcast-quality HD native transitions such as mix, dip, wipe, and more. Customize all transitions by adjusting parameters like duration, border color, border width, position, and direction. The DVE can also be used in transitions, allowing a graphic to move over the wiping edge, known as a graphic wipe, popular in sports programming. To avoid errors, ATEM Mini features a preview transition option to check transitions before airing.

Create Amazing Virtual Sets:

ATEM Mini Extreme models include four upstream chroma keyers, enabling the creation of exciting virtual sets. With four independent chroma keyers, you can build a virtual set for up to four cameras. With eight inputs on the ATEM Mini Extreme, use four for cameras and the other four for a virtual set computer rendering backgrounds. Alternatively, use fixed camera virtual sets by loading pre-rendered still image backgrounds from the media players and media pool. Set up macros to change cameras and load the correct background into the media players, or use a DeckLink Quad HDMI and live virtual set software.

Powerful SuperSource Processing:

In addition to two independent DVEs, the ATEM Mini Extreme models feature a powerful SuperSource multi-layer processor with four extra DVE layers plus a background layer. This setup appears as an additional input source to the ATEM Mini Extreme. Use any ATEM Mini Extreme video input for each SuperSource DVE, layering them over a media pool custom background. SuperSource is ideal for multiple picture-in-picture displays during interviews, allowing setup before airing while keeping both main DVEs free for other tasks. It’s like having an extra multi-layer VFX switch built in.

Monitor Sources and Status with Multiview:

For larger live productions with multiple cameras, it’s invaluable to see all video sources on a single monitor. All ATEM Mini Pro models include a professional multiview displaying all video inputs, previews, and programs on a single HDMI television or monitor. Select M/V on the front panel video output control buttons to access the multiview. Each camera view has tally indicators to show when a source is on-air, custom labels, and audio meters. The ATEM Mini Extreme models allow for up to 16 custom views, and multiview also monitors critical statuses for recording, streaming, and the audio mixer.

Built-In Audio Mixer with 6-Band EQ, Compressor, and Limiter:

The built-in Fairlight audio mixer in ATEM Mini Pro ISO supports complex live sound mixing. It features enough channels for each HDMI input, allowing mixing audio from all sources, including the two stereo mic inputs. Each input channel offers a 6-band parametric EQ, compressor, limiter, expander, noise gate, and full panning. Set the software to auto-mix between inputs as you switch “AFV” or mix multiple sources live simultaneously. Control all this audio power via ATEM Software Control, or add a Mackie-compatible panel or a large Fairlight Audio Console.

Control and Color Balance Cameras:

For a more broadcast-style workflow, ATEM Mini Pro ISO allows remote camera control. Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and 6K models can function as studio cameras, with control sent via HDMI to ATEM Mini Pro. Adjust camera settings and the camera’s color corrector from ATEM Software Control. Change ISO and tint, lens iris, focus, and zoom, letting camera operators concentrate on the shot. The control interface includes a CCU layout for traditional tint color control and a DaVinci color corrector interface, adding incredible digital film “looks” to your live production.

Record to an External Recorder:

The HDMI program output connects ATEM Mini Pro ISO to an external recorder or monitor, supporting external recorders like Blackmagic Video Assist. Get a high-quality output with switcher program video and live audio from the internal audio mixer. Connect the HDMI output to video projectors in large venues, or use ATEM Software Control to ISO record from one input. Generate multiple formats by recording from the HDMI program output in high-quality ProRes while simultaneously recording to H.264 video stream on a USB flash disk.
