Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K
Blackmagic pocket cinema camera 6k is out to shake the camera industry with its amazing specs. Apart from its Active Canon EF Mount and a Super 35-sized HDR Sensor, this baby boasts of a whole lot more. Alongside the 4k version, its larger and super image sensor gives users great cinema lens options.
BMPCC 6K lens mount and the upgraded image sensor is what makes it stand out from its younger brother- the 4k version. If something in your conscience is still holding you back from getting yourself this darling, your doubts are about to be cleared.
Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K With its compact pocket size, this Active Canon EF Mount camera has a good punch of larger and super 35-sized HDR sensor. It effectively shoots using an Active Canon EF Mount lens with no need of a speed booster adapter. That extra and exotic image sensor is what puts it on edge.
Black magic pocket cinema camera 6k shows exemplary performance in a variety of different lighting situations. It applies:
In the wild
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K brings out the beauty of nature as it is. It captures every detail, from the bark of every tree to the leaves. The Dual Native 400 and 3200 ISO to 25600 features of the camera to reduce noise in the images to bring out quality images and a full dynamic range of the sensor. BMPCC 6K Featuring a more substantial record 6144×3456 up to fps lens, it focuses on a shallower depth of field to create cinematic images.
In Music videos
Music is a great deal in life, and bands want to ensure that their production is fast and affordable. As such, shooting in 6k has enough storage to give coverage that frees up room in the budget to accommodate high-end cinema primes. In turn, the production value remains on the higher side with Dual Native 400 and 3200 ISO to 25600 cameras.
The worse scenario for a wedding videographer is carrying a camera that doesn’t bring out the lifetime joy of a wedding. Such an occasion requires a cinematic flair to make the event even more dramatic. The super 35-sized HDR Sensor found in black magic pocket cinema camera 6k captures all the long and beautiful moments to an external drive. It is worth the effort, especially if you want to avoid swapping memory cards amidst an event. Besides, one misses a lot when doing so.
To crack it down for you, the BMPCC 6K design of the camera features great specs which include:
- An incredible 13 stops dynamic range that captures more detail in the dark and light areas of an image.
- The camera record 6144×3456 up to 50 fps pixel resolution
- A full super 35 size sensor with a 6k resolution that increases image quality. It also shoots up at record 6144×3456 up to 50 fps with a high frame rate option.
- A Dual Native 400 and 3200 ISO to 25600 and an EF lens mount for low light performance
With these features and more built-in video assist specification, customers won’t have to go through the trouble of purchasing and carrying around extra equipment. Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k is an all-in-one solution that allows you to tell what’s on your mind and be creative.
Color Temperature
Setting the color temperature tells the camera how to interpret white and other colors in an image. Instead of saving images with color values baked in, Blackmagic RAW makes it possible for you to change the temperature in post production with DaVinci Resolve Studio.
Contrast
Adjusting contrast, or the tonal range of an image, can make different parts of the image stand out. While you should always try to get the best shot on set, Blackmagic RAW gives you the flexibility to adjust contrast without any loss of quality while you?re editing and color correcting.
ISO
Changing the ISO adjusts the camera?s sensitivity to light. Properly exposed shots require the right combination of ISO, aperture and shutter speed. Depending on the lights and exposure settings, you may need to adjust ISO in post.
Tint
Adjusting tint is another way you can affect the overall color balance of an image. Unlike saturation or midpoint which can make reds redder or yellows more yellow, adjusting tint actually lets you push the colors in different directions.
Saturation
Saturation is the strength or purity of a color. More saturated colors are pure and less saturated colors have a percentage of gray in proportion to their hue. Adjusting saturation in Blackmagic RAW images can help make the colors visually pop or become muted.
Exposure
In order for your images to look good, you need to make sure that it?s not too bright (overexposed) or too dark (underexposed). With Blackmagic RAW, the exposure settings can be changed in post so you can save shots that were not properly exposed!
Use Standard SD Cards, UHS?II or CFast 2.0 Media!
The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera features built in CFast and SD UHS?II card recorders, and a USB?C expansion port for recording direct to an external media disk. You can use regular SD cards for HD or higher performance UHS?II and CFast cards for native 4K or 6K when using Blackmagic RAW.
Imagine capturing over an hour of full resolution 6K images on a single 256GB SD UHS?II card! The ProRes and Blackmagic RAW files work with all video software. You can even mount the media cards on your computer and start editing directly from them using the included DaVinci Resolve Studio software!

Blackmagic RAW’s limitations
Blackmagic RAW (BRAW) is unable to scale.
BMPCC6K uses a sensor with physical dimensions similar to the 4K version, but the only difference is it has more pixel in it. The sensor is 18.96mm x 10.00mm, while the BMPCC6K sensor is 23.10mm x 12.99mm. This means that the BMPCC4K has an approximate pixel pitch of about 21 nanometers, while the BMPCC6K’s pixel pitch is around 14nm.
Working in 4K will require windowing of the sensor, and consequently a big crop factor.

there would be a significant crop factor when shooting in 4K on the BMPCC6K in Blackmagic RAW.
Workaround
It is the view of the Pocket Camera, that it is more advantageous to shoot in 5.7K and downscale in post-production. This is because the 5.7K recording mode has an aspect ratio of 17:9, the same aspect ratio as 4K DCI. This provides more picture quality than a simple crop.
7K and 2.8K
The BMPCC6K supports BRAW recording in 3.7K Anamorphic and 2.8K recording. In all likelihood, support in 3.7K Anamorphic is provided as the de-squeeze would almost negate any crop factor imposed.
8K recording affords high-speed recording of up to 120 frames per second. Therefore, the 2x crop factor imposed should be acceptable.
